Through systematic mechanical analysis and verification, we optimized the structures of impeller and quick-wear parts, which greatly reduces the material passing resistance. Compared with the traditional impact crusher, this design obviously increases the material throughput and ratio of crushing, and enhances the working efficiency by 30%-60%; the realignment and modular design of the quick-wear parts in the impeller guarantee the repeated utilization factor of quick-wear parts and reduce the wear cost by more than 40%.
In consideration of the maintenance and part replacement problems during the production process of the sand maker, we abandoned the traditional laggard cover opening modes of hoisting and manual jack, and introduced semi-automatic hydraulic system; the operator only needs to press the button to open the top cover of the machine, and carry out the following operations. This system greatly reduces the manual labor intensity, which saves the labor cost and enhances the service efficiency.
Based on the production realities, we found that the periphery guard board usually wears from the middle part; if integral periphery guard board is used, when the middle part is seriously worn, the entire guard board must be replaced, which will increase the cost to use quick-wear parts; if split type design improved by SBM is adopted, when the middle part is worn, the board can still be used by exchanging the upper and lower ends, which greatly extends the service life of periphery guard board and reduces the cost of quick-wear parts.
In consideration that the customer has two production demands (i.e. sand making and shaping) and will switch the modes of sand maker between central feeding and fall feeding, we make a brand new improved design to the material distributing tray. When switching the production demand, the operator only needs to gently move the flapper of the material distributing tray to complete the mode switch, which greatly reduces the adjustment downtime and manual operation cost.

1.Central feeding:Raw materials fall down into the feeding hopper of the VSI sand making machine,then enters the impeller through central entrance inlet,thus the material being accelerated by the high-speed impeller and being thrown out at the speed of 60-75m/s.It is crushed when hitting the impact plate,and the end products comes out from the discharging outlet.
2.Ring feeding:Raw materials fall down into the feeding hopper,and the materials are divided into two parts by a special plate.Some materials enter the sand making machine’s impeller through the center of the plate and the other part of materials falls down from outside of the plate.The materials thrown out earlier crush the materials down from outside,thus the materials crushed and re-crushed.
