Mixing blade used in the gypsum based wall putty mixer machine


Putty powder mixers are divided into vertical and horizontal types according to the mixing type. The mixing blades of different types of putty powder mixers are not the same. How to choose the specific mixing blades?

How to choose mixing blade for gypsum based wall putty mixer machine

The mixing blades of putty powder mixer machine mainly include spiral ribbon type, paddle type, turbine type and propeller type.


1. The spiral ribbon mixer

It is a widely used in mixing wall putty. The horizontal putty powder mixer generally adopts the horizontal cylinder and spiral ribbon mixing. It has simple structure, convenient operation and high output. It is more suitable for the initial investment of small and medium enterprises.

2. Paddle type mixer 

It adopts paddle type mixing blades. Commonly used  double-shaft paddle zero-gravity mixers. The speed of the paddle type mixer is generally 20-150r/min, and the circumferential speed of the blade is about 3m/s. The diameter of the blade is 1/2-3/4 of the diameter of the container, and the width is generally 1/l0-1/6 of its length. The speed of the paddle mixer is slow, the radial velocity of the blade arm faster, and the axial velocity is slower.

3. Turbine mixer 

It is similar to paddle mixer,  the blades are more and short, it is a high-speed rotary radial flow mixer. The mateiral is sucked along the drive shaft through the turbine blades. It mainly produces a radial flow. The material is thrown around the turbine at a high speed and then flows upward along the groove wall. The number of turbine blades is 4-6, the diameter is smaller than the blades, which is 0.3-0.5 times the diameter of the container, the rotation speed is 400-2000r/min, and the peripheral speed is within 8m/s. The main features of the turbo mixer are: 

  • Suitable for mixing a variety of materials, especially effective for medium viscosity liquids;

  • High mixing production capacity, low energy consumption, high mixing efficiency; 

  • High local shearing effect;

  • Easy to clean and high cost. Turbine mixers are often used to prepare low-viscosity emulsions, suspensions and solid solutions.

4. The propeller mixer 

It is also called the screw mixer, which is mostly used to mix two immiscible liquids to prepare emulsions, such as low-viscosity materials such as a mixture of oil and water. The propeller mixer is suitable for high-speed mixing of low-viscosity liquids. The diameter of the propeller blade is 1/3 to 1/4 of the diameter of the container. Its speed is above 1000r/min for small size and 400~800r/min for large size. Due to the high-speed rotation of the blades, the axial and tangential speed of the liquid flow is caused, which causes the liquid to make a spiral rotation, and the liquid is subject to strong cutting and shearing. At the same time, the blades also cause bubbles to be engulfed in the liquid. This is its disadvantage. For this reason, the shaft is often placed off the center line, or inclined at a certain angle.
